Going for a walk in the cold weather? Drink hot tea? Or going to the gym to turn on your fire? It’s the first month of the year and it is still winter. After the holiday season and the start of the new year, everything seems to change. These months can be boring, as everyone seems to be focused on themselves and there are not many activities to do. Most of the people stay inside and don’t do anything special.
But you can make this winter special. Be grateful for the small things you can do to enjoy the winter season. Follow the rhythm of nature and embrace every season, also the winter.

Hereby a small list of things you can do to make this winter more beautiful:
- Go out for a walk in the cold when it’s a sunny day. I know it is tempting to stay inside, but it’s healthy to go out for some daylight and fresh air. It doesn’t have to be for a long time, 10 or 20 minutes is also fine. Enjoy the warmth of the sun on your skin and take some deep breaths. Be grateful. If you have been outside, you will even appreciate it more when you are back inside again.
- Go out and play. Is it snowy outside? Build a snowman, play with your dog in the snow or have a snowball fight with friends.
- Search for activities outside. Even in winter, there are activities to do. But you have to search for it. When you can’t find them, go to the cinema, theater or a nice coffee bar.
- Drink some hot drinks to keep you warm. A vegan latte macchiato, a vegan cortado or some green sencha tea for example. Try also something new, like a chai latte, butterfly latte or a matcha latte. Are you tired of the plant based milk? Make ginger tea or lemon tea. Or some hot water with a slice of orange.
- Invite some friends and play a game. Choose a simple game like ‘Jenga’ or ‘Mikado’ if you don’t have much time or don’t want to think too much. If you want to play a more challenging game, try ‘If it fits’ for a cute and tactical game or ‘Ticket to ride’ for a more adventurous game.
- Try a new recipe. Now you spend more time inside, you don’t have an excuse anymore. Make some time to try a new vegan dish, like ramen. Or bake some vegan blueberry cupcakes.
- Learn a language. Keep it simple and choose a language that is not too difficult for you. Use an app like Duolingo to practice and learn.
- Read a book. Choose a book that is matching this season of the year. Or choose a good story that you can’t stop reading.
- Snuggle up. Enjoy an evening on the couch, with a warm blanket and your favorite Korean series. Have a genmaicha tea and smell the roasted rice. Do not disturb this evening. Only you and 현빈 (Hyun Bin).
What about you? What do you like to do in winter?
