Explore your own country

The sound of birds in the early morning, the warmth of the sunshine on your face and the blossoming trees around you. The cold winter slowly turned into spring. It’s time to go out to explore your own country.

Many of us haven’t even seen much of their own country. I was lucky I could travel during my study and after that I went out almost every weekend to explore. As I like to visit new places and see new things. Hereby I would like to share some tips on how to travel through your own country.

# 1 Visit a city where you have never been before. Take a map of your country and choose a city where you have not been before. Take the train and explore this city. Make a walk, have a drink at a nice coffee place and enjoy a vegan lunch.

#2 Do a city walk with a local guide to learn more about the city. When you travel abroad, it is so normal to book a city walk, but in your own country you wouldn’t even think of it. Let’s give it a try.

#3 Visit a national park and enjoy the beautiful nature of your own country.

#4 Visit a place to do a guided boat tour. You can choose to do one in a natural area or in a city.

#5 Go to a museum. Check first what you like, art, history or other cultures? There are so many different museums. Visit the ones that you like the most.

#6 Make a walk through nature. Search for an area which you normally don’t visit. Online you can find different walks. Especially in spring it’s a nice season for walking. There are even walks to see the blossoming trees.

#7 Go to a theme park. Rollercoasters, miniature lands or a fairy tale forest. Where haven’t you been yet as an adult? Now is your chance to visit it.

#8 Book a night at a tiny house in the forest and enjoy the environment around you.

#9 Do a workshop. Search for something local, like products that your country is famous for or a cooking class where you make some local dish.

#10 Take a random train and see where it brings you. You can just choose to stop at a place somewhere in between, if that’s a place where you haven’t been before. Let it be a surprise.
